“Our only hope today lies in our ability to recapture the revolutionary spirit and go out into a sometimes hostile world declaring eternal hostility to poverty, racism, and militarism.”
-- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., martyred 48 years ago today.
This picture of the memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King on the Mall in Washington, D.C. was taken by me at sunset on April 12, 2012 while attending the Q Conference.
I had a remarkable conversation with a spry, older, focused black grandmother who had brought her grandkids to see this memorial, and to stand with her on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial where King gave his famous "I Have A Dream..." speech.
She was there on that day.
I was deeply moved that she was there that evening in 2012 to fill me in as only a person could who has lived this significant time in our American history. What a gift those moments were with her.
