Often, not totally pure on this, but often, at the end of a day I will reflect back over the day, pondering what was the best and what was the worst of the time just spent. Then when it gets to be the last day of the week, like today, I will ponder back over the week. It's often the same for the end of a month, a quarter of the year, half year, and the end of a year, and even a decade.
These are personal lists that my soul seems to keep. Their purpose, in part, is to keep me focused on the future by reminding myself what I need to do again, some more, maybe for the first time off the lessons learned, or projects left undone from the past. It has been a helpful exercise as I am living well into my third 3rd of life.
Feelings emerge from these care-filled-ly processed thoughts that some times surprise me. Upside feelings are always welcome. Downside feelings need to be attended to, or they will gobble up the future, no matter the length of time into the future.
What has been particularly wonder-filled in recent weeks/months is the connection to friendships from the past. The connections have been full of quiet beauty, and some angst, with an unsettledness that is not to be dismissed.
I've been quietly stunned by comments from friends and acquaintances from wAy, Way back about a word given, an event attended, focused time spent digging into one's future...and what those moments, no matter the length, continue to mean to these remarkable individuals.
Influence is a sacred happening that we all exercise in all our lives...unconsciously to consciously. Some times the influence is not so sacred. More self-serving. Some times it is ignored or abused. And some times the influence leaves me speechless with a wonder that creates a deep gratitude that once upon a time there was a useful word or moment that spurred another on in ways that are changing the world in which they live.
Imagine that....................
As you zoom through the next hours to years of your own life, what aRe you imagining for your own future? Reflection is important for correcting the past and creating the future...in every dimension of your own life.
You know where you've been.
Do you know where you're going?
...and why?
