...in our commitment to slow driving while on "staycation"
...we took advantage of the roadside education
...in those turn-outs most of us just zoom by
...it got so that NOT stopping was extra rare
...and we learned so much about the amazing miners and prospectors and surveyors that opened up our state when all they had was grit, determination, evidently good feet and pack mules...and hopes and dreams
...what all took place in the 1800s was truly amazing (without GPS, cell phones, motorized vehicles, etc.)
...our God's creative forces were everywhere
...and our jaws dropped often with the splendor of the vistas
...and we often ended our days, the first week, at this sunset vista, stunned by the beauty...realizing that what can make this trivial is when we don't quiet down, center ourselves in the moment with our God, watch, listen...and worship...as beauty moves into our souls and pushes out the "stuff and clutter" of our existence.
