Intentionally, this has been a quiet work day here at home base. Besides a good workout at Fitness19, the day has been full of the two of us getting the house all back in order, thoroughly cleaned, Christmas put away, a new year waits. What will spin into exixtence in the next 365 days?
In some personal moments today I read some more in Ted Loder's life-changing book, Guerrillas of Grace: Prayers For The Battle. His wisdom, his creativity, his words, his honesty, his intuition, his depth of grace have fed my soul times over as this year has come to a close.
Tonight I welcome in the new year with these words, found on p.99:
Set Me Free
Lord of wondrous patience,
the earth has risen again,
emerging
from a darkness
in a way it has never quite been before;
whirling
to a fresh time,
an unused space;
alive
with trembling possibilities,
and I with it!
Such staggering grace!
Please,
nurture me in newness
set me free from the tyrannies
of habit
and complaining
and blaming;
shake from me the dusty melancholy
of too much success and comfort,
pride and pretense,
that, as if on the first day of creation,
I may begin to see
the miracle of life and humanty;
to hear
the hum of grace
unfolding to meet all my needs,
unexpectedly and surprisingly,
and urging me to go on in faith
to whatever is next in love.

I'm returning to Loder's book of prayers more all the time. Thanks for mentioning this one as we lean - or stumble - into the new year. May you and Judy find it surprisingly infused with grace as you pursue the Life that is truly Life!
