Whoa, way back in the day, like the 1950s, when those words came out of our olde black and white television way back on the ranch, the hairs on this young lad's head would stand up and say, "Oh, oh! The Russians really must be landing!" Even worse, "Was their another break from the state mental hospital?"
Even today, with our amazing Sony HDTV and more access to the world than one could up dream way back there in Oregon, if the programming still gets interrupted with, "Special Report," blazing all over the screen, we are prone to wonder, "What's happened now?"
Some days I'm not the best of lovers of others. But no matter what, we are encouraged to love, above all. This stirred my soul today in the midst of the contiuning bashing.
So, good blog readers, I interrupt this waning political season with this Special Report from Inward/Outward
An Army of Lovers by Shane Claiborne from his good book:
The Irresistible Revolution
Lovers are hard to come by. And I think that's what our world is desperately in need of--lovers, people who are building deep, genuine relationships with fellow strugglers along the way, and who actually know the faces of the people behind the issues they are concerned about. We are trying to raise up an army not simply of street activists but of lovers--a community of people who have fallen desperately in love with God and with suffering people, and who allow those relationships to disturb and transform them.
And now we return to our regularly scheduled bashing, 'er programming, 'er doing our sincere and honest best to live out our one wild and precious life, as our God would have us live and love, in the freedom that our God longs to plant, nurture and grow in each one of us.

There are greater, creative possibilities to be living into and out of than the bashing from all sides that is taking place.
