        Sitting here in the warm of the evening in Texas (only 104 here today), I've been reflecting on the immense day I've experienced.  Exceptional presentations that have ye olde brain a buzzin'!!!  Walking back to my room and passing by my new friend here, I said, "Hey, Pardner...after this amazing day, I think I know how you must feel!"

Most anything I’ve read, outside of Colorado, concerning the draught in Texas doesn’t even begin to tell the story.  The devastation and concerns are more immense than can be reported...unless experienced.

SepTexasTour--11Sun'11: Day Three

        From a deeply grateful space in my father's heart, this has been a wonderful time with our daughter here in Austin.  All five senses have been engaged...the moments have brought good conversation between us, and with some of her friends...refreshing has been the word that keeps coming to mind.

        As most, in the communicative world, I woke up thinking back 10 years ago.  Amazing how moments can be so defining...whether they be huge and tragic...or even a first glance of relationship.  It seems every adult who was alive a decade ago knows exactly where they were when the news came in about the Twin Towers, The Pentagon, and the plane that ditched in Pennsylvania.  It is an event that altered the course of all our histories.

Currently I'm taking some welcome time out

to refocus, renew, recharge, reframe and

further ignite what's been burning in my soul,

which will be showing up in future Mentoring Mondays.

...and now, it's off to the Wizard Academy...

something I've been yearning to do for over three years now.

It's finally possible...deeply grateful.

Seems extra important for this very moment in my life.

SepTexasTour--10Sat'11: Day Two

        This day, Saturday the 10th, took off with a roar.  And the roar came ripping out of my own throat.  Thinking back to early this morning, I was surprised at the drive that took me flying down the outside stairs at our daughter's condo here in Austin.

SepTexasTour--9Fri'11: Day One

        3am...Saturday...the alarm went off...time to begin a journey of unknown proportions or outcomes, from several directions.  Headed into Houston on the first flight out of DIA @ 6am.  Some how the "travel gods were generous" and I got a fare for only $138 round trip.

        There is a deep soulish sense that this trip is going to have interesting moments...not knowing what...both personally and corporately.  But...convinced it is one I'm supposed to be taking at this moment in time.

        Me in 8F...a man in 8D...turns out we know several good people in Denver and elsewhere.  Both of us live in the south part of the Denver metroplex...are now Facebook friends...and will, hopefully, spend some future time together.

        Lively conversation all the way down...surprised us both.  He was heading "home to Texas", though living in Denver, to celebrate his wife's birthday with family and other good friends (she works for Continental...so lucky them on company travel!).

        Just about the time we mentioned the fires in Texas, I looked out the window, and here's what we saw from who knows how many feet up...as we were beginning the descent into "hotter than _ _ _ _ " Houston.

Mentoring Mondays...#30:

It's time for a review...catching up as we move forward.

        It's a bit of a chore to go all the way back to where these Mentoring Mondays began...like here...but it's also good to be reminded of where we've come from in our passionate pursuit of mentoring that is actually making a difference in each life you mentor.  The privilege of serving others...seeing them released into all they were designed to be...and do.......it's a deep and sacred honor that I sincerely wish more people could experience.

        You've both heard and read me talking/writing about The Circle of Life...and the 8 Dimensions of Life that make up that every moving circle.  This is a way of thinking about yourself...and others.  Like tonight, when we stopped by our local grocery to pick up some food items for the week to come, I was intrigued by the clerk who was checking out a shopper ahead of us...and then she turned her full attention to us.

        She obviously enjoyed what she was doing.  Her smile and demeanor, even toward the end of a busy day in the store, would make the Safeway chain most proud of the capacity for her to do good work.  She waved goodby to a family, speaking directly to the kids.  She gave a word of encouragement to one of the bag boys.

        I told her that I'd not seen her in the store before, so she briefly let me know that she had been on surgical leave and was extra glad to be back at work.  It showed.

        That brief conversation took us, whether she knew it or not, through at least three of the 8 Dimensions of Life.  She thanked me for asking her the questions I did as we left for home.
