For this olde man, there's never been enough time to do all the reading I would like to do. Looking to the left, you can see the books I'm reading...or have read already this summer...some for the first time...a couple for a third time.
One of those "third time" books is Macrina Wiederkehr's Seven Sacred Pauses: Living Mindfully Through The Hours of the Day. There's been a lot stirring in my soul in recent months, and this little potent tome has kept me focused in the midst of some extra hard moments...all the way to some extra glorious moments.
Yesterday afternoon, with one of the good men I mentor (who also happens to have the amazing gift of "horse whispering"), we went to see a movie, a documentary, by the title of Buck. (click on that last name to see the movie trailer) Whew...that sent me tumbling back over my almost 70 years...right up through the past year and days of my life...a most important journey of the moment last evening.
Coming home...I had to take a run into the sunset and ponder deeply what I had experienced. Imperative, some times, to make those moments happen.
In the 90 minutes I was gone from home, most of it running this body into better shape, I did stop half way through and watch the sunset at a new place I'm eager to take Judy, soon...and reflect...and ponder...and think...and pray. Thankfully, I came home with a deeper peace than when I had begun the run. Thanks to my iPhone, here's what I witnessed as yesterday drew to a close.
Both Macrina's encouragement to be "mindful" all day long, every day, and Buck's life story (some parts similar to my own) brought me to a place I needed to be internally. So...simply wanted to share the moments with you as yesterday faded into darkness...and the night season...that has given birth to this new day:
