Life...to the max!

          As we are fond of saying, we have the best of neighbors.  While they were helping us move the furniture to get the carpets cleaned tomorrow throughout the whole house, they told us the following...wild and fun thoughts:

          This Fourth of July weekend astound your family, friends and your own neighbors with these three bits of unique and interesting trivia.......but true!!!  Crazy facts that boggle the mind a bit:

        1.   It's been 823 years since any July has had 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays in the same month...so this July 2011 is it for awhile...   :-)   ...unless you plan on being around in 2834!

        2.   Also in 2011 you will experience more 1's than usual:

1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11

        3.   And...try this out at work, or wherever you find yourself tomorrow, before you try it out on friends and family gathered for the holiday weekend: 

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born...

...now add the age you will be this year,

...the results will be 111 for everyone in the whole world

...including you!

Crazy...huh!!!

Martha and Carl Shannon of Lake Elsinore, CA...way to go!!!

 

 

...and here's the whole "Sutter Tribe," originally from Glendale, AZ, (all last names changed, except for one), Lenore Fetz, Marjorie Darby, Martha Shannon, Mil Sutter and Judy Roberts.  Judy's three older sisters are all in their 80s, with the one in lavender being the matriarch of the family at 88.  Her brother is close to my age...and the Lady Judy, my amazing wife of 44 years, is the beautiful "baby" of the family, showing up 22 years after Marjorie.

...growing up we used to think that people married 50, or even 40 years, were really, really old.  And now...6 more years for us to 50...and...16 years to match Carl and Martha's achievement of great grace.

We plan to do so.

...it's been a life-time this week:

Whew...........!

        It's been a week of highs, lows, amazing moments, painful pondering, in all kinds of lives, relationships and situations...all accumlating, for me, in a thoughtful read of I Corinthians 10 last night and today...extra meaningful in The Message.  Lifetimes have been explored and altered...some by choice...some by circumstance.

        One of the best choices of the week, for me, was speaking at a small, but potent, conference here in the Denver area with regard to better communication with and living among Christian, Muslims and Jews...truly remarkable conversations.  This past Tuesday was a day off for this group, and I got to take two van loads of them up into Rocky Mountain National Park.

        It was an ordained day of extreme beauty.  And here's the group at "my sacred space" at Sprague Lake...good people...rich conversations...all of us, together, giving our God praise for the immense beauty.

 

 

Would welcome taking anyone up there

any time the day is available for both of us.

        Glad you asked.  How many does one person need?  Or even want?  And for what reasons might one be brave enough to engage mentors as one moves along the years of their existence from one third of life to the next third to the next...and on into eternity?
