At the end of this week, on Saturday, I will be speaking twice at a mentoring conference at Denver Seminary (...open to anyone who would like to attend). My assigned topic is Talking Heads/Listening Hearts. It has been an excellent assignment for me...especially as we continue down our journey here on Mondays.
This past weekend, it was our deep joy to spend some time in our home with the budding young man sitting with me in this picture. Picking him up early at his school, with his parent's blessing, we began a 33 hour journey that I will long treasure.
My mind, heart and soul, for this time (...which, on this past Saturday, eventually added in his father and brother...culminating with adding his mother and sisters to the mix...a family I hold close and dear...) had been primed earlier in the day while listening to a good friend speak at the Friday Chapel at Compassion International. For some sacred, necessary reason as my friend unpacked Luke 18:16-17...well, those words have seared my soul...especially after the sincerely awesome and meaningful conversations I experienced with my young friend in this picture...as, among other joy-filled moments, we played frisbee tennis, climbed trees, made pancakes for breakfast and talked and talked...me listening and marveling at the questions. :-)
