...that statement in the Bible
For God so loved the world that he sent his only son.......
...well, that has captured me today, upon awakening
...and then I read this by Richard Rohr from his book,
On The Threshold of Transformation...pg 305:
God loves us into becoming lovers by a noncoercive and nonpunitive style of bringing us up. God assists from within by loving us at ever deeper levels--and we become loving almost in spite of ourselves. God just rubs off on us--and isn't that what you want to do with your kids {...and others...}? Our only homework is life itself, with all of its suffering, desiring, sinning, learning, winning, and losing--many times. God demands that we forgive seventy times seven so that we can recognize that this is how God operates first and always.
Like any good parent, God is willing to secretly help us with our homework, and to give us an A for even a mustard seed of love, desire or effort. What else would make you want to love even more? What else would make you grow into a lover? Surely not punishment.
...OK!
...God also so loves you!!!
...Where do you think he may just want to send you?
