...in the midst of the chaos of our world
...weak cement in the gulf oil spill
...thousands still missing in Indonesia
...cholorea in Haiti
...middle east influenced posturing of all kinds
...the most negative political season, ever, in US of A history
...illnesses, explained and unexplained, with good friends
...and, oh yes, all the pagan pomp and circumstance of Halloween, and all that's supposed to be wrong or OK with it (...just heard yesterday it's the second most costly consumer holiday here, right behind Christmas...)
...sports teams not performing up to par (...whatever par may be for American football teams...), particularly not far from where this olde man sits at this early hour (AFA, CU {...really important, as in more important than the world chaos...to some, maybe even too many...will the coach last one or two more games?...and then the AD might bring back who? His name starts with Mc? What?...}, and the Denver Ponies, 'er Broncos...who are now in London to play the 49er Whiners...who ever came up with this bit of sports tourism...nuts, I would answer...)
...AND...some people think that what happens with sports teams is life or death to them for any age of players from the "wee leagues" to the big leagues
...or they invent new "young messiahs or messiahettes" out of fine young men and women (...all sports here...) and then cast either dispersion or accolades on character by field performance rather than the long haul of "life performance"
...sheeeeesch, 'tis a crazy, hurting, painful, mixed-up world in so many ways that we could take all day to count the ways
...then, again, the brilliance, for a brief moment in current time, of great sports writing, by a legendary sports columnist, shows up in today's Denver Post with regard to the Denver Broncos being in London in the middle of a very poor season of play
...to which Woody Paige, for that brief moment, has creatively engaged us in the past processes of another beloved literary legend, as we fair-weather to avid fans strain forward to Sunday's NFL game "over there", and come back to the present moment with all our individual concerns, joys, sorrows, hopes, fears and possibilities...individually...relationally...and throughout each of our 8 life dimensions...no matter who or where we are on the planet...........
...well, this weekend, take a walk; take a deep breath; take time to smile at someone; men--take a moment to hold open a door for a woman of any age, and women--should you be the recipient of such an honored gentlemanly gesture, please say, "thank you"; above all, take some time to put into perspective what's really important for this hour, this day, this weekend, what's left of October...and the rest of the year...and your life.
...what are you here for?
...who are you?
...what do you do?
...what radical difference does that make in the lives of others
...my prayer is that you will have a better than average weekend...........some how, somewhere, some way
...your choice, for how you will play your own weekend game!

Well, while I agree with most of your blog today...I really like Tim Tebow and wish you would have put someone else's photo up! He is a fine young man of faith and we miss him at Florida this year! He is one of the things that is good about sports and in the larger scheme of life he is a great example of knowing what your bigger purpose in life is all about....

Wes, from the side of the world where we're being pummeled by quakes, tsunamis and spewing volcanoes, I am off to Bali to meet a couple who are teaching on "convergence," how our faith should permeate every facet of our lives. Wish I could sit down and visit with you about the same. For now, your posts will continue providing me with thoughts on this topic. Enjoy the crisp fall air!
