Words: ...last ones for 2007:
Pax vobis.

Pax vobis.
...preparing to participate in the ordination of my good friend, Jason Smith, this weekend, I've given much thought to the encouragement by Jesus that we are all to be salt and light in this world in which we reside, wherever that may be.......
...just maybe!!!
...something has to change...........!
Alan Hirsch's most recent blog has words (and a book review) that give one pause to consider what is my/our part...and how do I/we support those who choose less than I choose? What is our (yours and mine) calling to live incarnationally deep in our spirits and in real-time-daily-living no matter what our varied vocations/work situations may be? These thoughts are not to be dismissed (as we can all too easily do when challenged with the uncomfortable) as we close the door on 2007 and open the door to 2008.

The picture above is taken of a child of the slums (and not the worst ones we visited) on the edge of the massive garbage dump in Guatemela City, where thousands of people live, when there in May of 2006 with Compassion International getting a look, taste, touch, smell and taking in the sounds of their exceptional work in rescuing children from poverty.
My heart was broken in a way it never had been. And my heart was stolen by this little guy, named Elias, for whom I have prayed often...wondering what has happened to him...because the CI project near where he lived was maxed out in the number of children it was already caring for. That face has not left my soul.
...indeed, jarring...........
Waking up this morning my mind remembered a bit of the Christmas weekend, but then it took off in the direction of today and the rest of this week...after all we're painting our bedroom and bath...gotta get going...there's work to do. How quickly we can tuck in and forget one moment and then zoom off to the next.
And then I found this online this morning, that has slowed my pace down a bit...to remember...reflect...and look forward to the beginning of a new year. Next...may be the need to more often slow down...stop...breathe deeply of the Spirit and then proceed to what is next.......as the fresh wind of the Spirit fills the sails for the day...and not my huffing and puffing to get things done.
Anyone familiar with the Bible knows these thoughts...
"If you can't feed 100 people, then feed just one."
Mother Teresa
...gratefully, friends show up on the horizons of our lives and we welcome them in, wondering where the mutual journey will take us...and with each encounter we become more thankful for the challenges and harmonies of "real time," genuine relationships.
...sadly, some friendships seem to be but for a season, and quietly slip back over life's horizon, leaving memories...some warm, some not so warm...and some times have me wondering, "...where did they go?"...but releasing them with grace and blessing (...not always easy to do.......).
...glad for the strength of current friendships, we both hope for and long for relationships that are not afraid to think and live outside the boxes of past experience in all dimensions of our lives...not always easy to find...but more people keep showing up on our individual and "coupleness" horizons.
